gloria // the doors
How did I not know about this version?! Patti Smith still wins, but this is pretty awesome.

Clem Snide - Don’t Let The Sun Go Down on Your Grieveince (Daniel Johnston)
I’m ashamed to admit that I hadn’t gotten into Daniel Johnston until recently, although I had heard and read about him numerous times, I never got around to really listening to his music until I discovered this album. While his original versions are equally good, I can’t resist a good cover album. And this is an amazing cover album.
Bobby Bare Jr. - Sister Golden Hair (Daytrotter Session)
I’m thankful for Bobby Bare Jr. covering my favorite America song.
Drive-By Truckers - Like a Rolling Stone
I may have posted this before, but I really love this cover.
Ryan Adams - Down In A Hole (Alice In Chains cover)
Confession: I loved Alice In Chains until high school. And I love Ryan Adams now. So I liked this.
Not gonna lie, when I think of this song, I think of the RA version. Sorry, high school self.
Cat Power - (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction
Today seems like a good day to listen to Cat Power and be sad about stuff.
Rage Against The Machine - Kick Out the Jams (MC5)
Parody song idea: A song by Seahawks fans about the need to cut their mediocre backup runningback, entitled “Kick Out the (Edgerrin) James”
The Polyphonic Spree - Lithium (Nirvana)
Lee posted this song the other day, but the audio in his version was terrible, it sounded like some kid recorded it from his computer speakers. So here’s a good version. I seriously love this cover so much. They make you realize that the lyrics of this song are actually really happy, even though they’re actually really sad. That may not have made sense, but shut up and listen to the damn song!
Counting Crows covering Ryan Adams’ “Come Pick Me Up” (Live)
Cat Power - Stuck Inside Mobile (With the Memphis Blues Again)
From the I’m Not There soundtrack. Thought the movie was rubbish, quite frankly, but the soundtrack is excellent.
Auto-Reblog for this song.
I thought the movie was decent but the soundtrack outshined it by far. Kind of like Into the Wild.
Johnny Cash and June Carter - It Ain’t Me, Babe (Bob Dylan)
I think that’s a good one to end on. This makes me imagine a Cash/Carter/Dylan/Baez foursome, and that makes me happy.
