So Polish Horshoes is pretty much the greatest yard game ever. If you are not familiar with Polish Horshoes, rest easy know that it doesn’t actually involve any actual horshoes or Polish people. What it does involve is this:
2 5-6’ pieces of PVC
2 iron rods (optional)
2 rectangular wooden blocks
2 empty beer bottles
several full beer bottles
4 alcoholics
1 Frisbee
Stick the iron rods in the ground about 30-50’ apart. Stick the PVC in the ground over the iron rods so that the rods hold the pipes upright (if you can get the PVC upright by themselves, the rods are not needed). Place the wooden blocks on top of the PVC. Place the empty beer bottles on top of the wooden blocks.
Teams of two line up behind and on either side each pole, teammates stand next to the same pole. The goal is to knock the beer bottle off the pole and have it hit the ground. If the frisbee hits bottle and both the bottle and frisbee hit the ground, the throwing team is awarded 4 points. If the frisbee hits the pole and the bottle and frisbee hit the ground, the throwing team is awarded 3 points. If the bottle hits the ground, but the frisbee is caught, the throwing team is awarded 2 points. If the frisbee is hits the ground beyond the pole and is deemed “catchable”, the throwing team is awarded 1 point.
First team to 21 points wins. Enjoy!
